Founded on October 18, 1998 by young people from the Avé Prefecture who refused to accept the conditions they saw around them. Independent, non-political, and rooted in respect for local cultures.

Our association works across approximately 1,146 km², home to nearly 120,000 people. This is where our actions come to life — close to the communities we serve.
Avé is divided into two municipalities across eight cantons. In each, live families, children, and young people facing multiple vulnerabilities. It is alongside them that we work every day.
Between 2023 and 2025, APED implemented integrated community development programs across education, maternal health, WASH, vocational training, and women's economic empowerment — achieving a 74% overall implementation rate despite financial and logistical constraints.
Six program areas, planned vs. achieved. Strong field execution in maternal health and WASH infrastructure; gaps in vocational training and hygiene-kit distribution flag where additional funding will compound impact.

Maternal Health (100%) and WASH Infrastructure (100%) demonstrate strong field execution capacity. Women's Economic Empowerment (92%) shows high community engagement and program-fit. These are areas where capital scales directly into outcomes.
Vocational Training (61%) and Hygiene Kits Distribution (70%) underperformed primarily due to resource limitations. Each has a clear unit-cost path to scale — additional funding here removes the bottleneck rather than testing a new theory of change.
Access to healthcare remains a major challenge in Kpotamé and surrounding rural communities. Many households travel long distances to access basic medical consultations, prenatal and postnatal care, child vaccinations, and emergency healthcare.
To address this critical gap, APED has identified the construction of a Community Health Center in Kpotamé as the strategic priority for 2026–2028.

The community of Kpotamé contributed their own land and labor. Site clearing is complete. This phase raises $180,000 to lay the foundation — the literal groundwork for everything that follows.
Walls rise and roofing is completed, creating the physical space for clinical operations. Timeline contingent on reaching the Phase 1 funding milestone.
Examination tables, diagnostic tools, maternity ward equipment, and the recruitment of trained healthcare professionals — in partnership with Togo's Ministry of Health.
The center opens its doors. Local NGO partnerships and Ministry integration ensure it will serve the community for generations — self-sustaining, dignified, enduring.
